About Us

About \r\nFaculty of Engineering is one of the faculties of Misurata University which was established in the academic year 2000. Study in the faculty has commenced in the aforementioned year with three departments: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering departments. Other engineering departments were later established, namely Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing Department, Materials Engineering Department, Architecture and Urban Planning Department, and Petroleum Engineering Department. \r\nThe total land area of the faculty is about 5 hectares. The faculty includes approximately 980 students, 110 faculty members, 60 assistant personnel, and 80 staff members. \r\nSince its establishment, the faculty has endeavored to achieve the goals of educating, qualifying, and preparing distinguished engineering cadres that bear the responsibility of building and executing comprehensive development and infrastructure projects in the Libyan society. These goals are achieved through the implementation of integrated and comprehensive educational programs that are characterized by quality and flexibility and which depend on modern technology and keep pace with scientific development and information revolution. \r\nIn light of Misurata University vision, the Faculty of Engineering aspires to provide a scientific and academic research system that achieves excellence and precision, and ensures the contribution of individuals in society construction.

Dean’s Word\r\nIn the name of Allah, the most gracious, the most merciful. \r\nPraise be to Allah who honored us with the grace of Islam, and prayers and peace be upon the best of creatures, our first teacher and master, our beloved and our model, our Prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him. \r\nFirst of all, I welcome all the visitors of the website of the Faculty of Engineering and I take the chance to present a simple overview of the faculty. \r\nThe Faculty of Engineering was established in the academic year 2000. The study in the faculty has commenced with Civil Engineering Department, Electrical Engineering Department, and Mechanical Engineering Department. Later, other departments were established, namely Materials Science and Engineering Department, Architecture and Urban Planning Department, Petroleum Department, and Industrial Engineering and Manufacture Department. The faculty seeks to establish Water and Environmental Engineering Department and Chemical Engineering Department in the future. \r\nThe faculty has sought from the beginning to achieve an advanced engineering education and to qualify and prepare distinguished engineers who can bear the responsibility of building and executing comprehensive development and infrastructure projects for the Libyan society. These goals are achieved by implementing integrated and comprehensive educational programs that are characterized by quality and flexibility and which depend on modern technology and keep pace with scientific development and information revolution. \r\nIn light of Misurata University vision, the Faculty of Engineering aspires to provide a scientific and academic research system that achieves excellence and precision, and ensures the contribution of individuals in society construction. \r\nThe faculty has about 980 students enrolled in the various engineering disciplines. Its teaching staff consists of around 110 Libyan Master’s and PhD degrees holders, graduated from the world’s top finest universities (United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, France, Italy, Hungary, Serbia, Malaysia, Egypt, Russia, Brazil), assisted by 60 of assistance staff. Meanwhile, the faculty staff has 80 employees. The number of graduates has reached about 1444 since the foundation of the faculty in various fields of engineering, who are currently working in many private and public sector companies and are distinguished by their excellent performance and development and innovation ability, according to their employers. \r\nCurrently, the faculty aims to obtain the institutional and programmatic accreditation and achieve quality requirements in accordance with the institutional and programmatic accreditation standards of the National Center of Quality Insurance and Educational and Training Institutions Accreditation. \r\nFurthermore, the faculty strives to serve community and engineering profession persistently through offering consultations to the private and public sector and providing specialized courses and workshops, in addition to organizing conferences and seminars and participating in local and foreign scientific meetings. \r\nDear visitor, I wish you find in this site what answers your questions and inquiries. Goals

1. Achieving well-developed engineering education through the constant development of educational programs that guarantees keeping pace with the rapid ongoing changes in engineering and all other related fields. \r\n2. Fostering scientific research dissemination and providing varied excellent engineering consultations through developing labor policies and mechanisms that support and stimulate scientific production and counselling. \r\n3. Providing effective community services and sustainable development of the surrounding environment through encouraging students to take this matter into consideration with guiding and supporting organizing seminars and workshops. \r\n4. Ensuring institutional and programmatic accreditation for the faculty through activating and implementing the quality standards of the educational process. \r\n5. Developing human resources of the faculty through providing the suitable environment, training courses support, in addition to implementing the principle of equal opportunities and transparency. \r\n6. Enhancing students’ professional capabilities by guiding them towards analytical thinking, creativity, and innovation, in addition to providing them with practical experience and communication skills through strengthening the cognitive, intellectual, professional, and general capabilities.


Admission Rules

The applicant for bachelor’s degree from the faculty of engineering in one of the disciplines must fulfil the following admission requirements: \r\n1. The applicant must have high school diploma from Libya or any other diploma recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education with an overall minimum average of 75%. \r\n2. The applicant must be medically fit, free from infectious diseases, and capable of attending theoretical and practical classes. \r\n3. The applicant must pass a personal interview and an admission test if required by the College Board. \r\nAdmission of foreign students: \r\nThe faculty has the right to admit students from foreign nationalities under the following conditions:\r\n1. The applicant must obtain approval to study from the relevant authorities. \r\n2. The applicant must be a resident in Libya during study periods.\r\n3. The applicant must pay fees and study expenses in accordance with the regulations of the university. \r\n4. The applicant must meet all the admission requirements listed above. \r\nThe applicant for Master’s degree from the faculty of engineering in one of the disciplines must fulfil the following admission requirements: \r\n1. The applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree in the required discipline from a recognized university or its equivalent with a minimum average of 65%. \r\n2. The applicant must display good behavior and be medically fit. \r\n3. Two letters of recommendation from two teachers who previously taught the applicant must be attached with the admission application. \r\n4. The applicant must provide a proof of their employer’s approval of the enrollment in the program. \r\n5. The applicant may be required to pass a number of supplementary courses successfully in order to be admitted.
